Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been recognized by prominent industry publications for its commitment to innovative approaches that solve client problems, enhance quality and reduce costs. The firm earned a “Client Service Innovator of the Year” accolade in Legaltech News and The Recorder’s joint Innovation Awards, and was also deemed one of the 22 law firms best at alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) by BTI Consulting Group.
“We are proud to be honored by these esteemed organizations,” said Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, co-managing directors of Littler, in a joint statement. “As the legal market continues to change and be reshaped by a variety of forces, we view innovation as critical to our ongoing success as a firm and will continue to push the envelope to provide our clients with legal services that align with their business strategies.”
Legaltech News and The Recorder recognized Littler based on three new initiatives the firm added to its suite of service solutions in 2015:
- Littler Big Data Initiative is focused on helping clients take advantage of the big data revolution to better manage their workforce and enhance employment litigation strategies. Littler counsels clients on leveraging data analytics in such areas as hiring and promotions, performance management, and predictive modeling to manage litigation, while ensuring compliance with laws in such areas as privacy, discrimination and background checks.
- ComplianceHR® is an award-winning, web-based platform that offers instantaneous, concise and comprehensive information for making critical employment law decisions. A joint venture with Neota Logic, it helps companies embed legal compliance into repetitive employment processes, providing risk analysis to guide such decisions as engaging independent contractors and determining overtime-exempt status.
- Littler X-celerator™ is a web-based tool that helps emerging companies in California comply with state and federal laws when hiring and managing employees. It provides readily accessible template documents for key issues that arise during the employment lifecycle, as well as guidance on how to use those documents. It offers start-ups a cost-effective and easy way to address employment law issues early on to mitigate future risks.
The Innovation Awards ceremony will take place in conjunction with the Legaltech West Coast conference on June 13 in San Francisco.
Littler was also recognized for its aptitude in developing and implementing AFAs. In its “State of Alternative Fee Arrangements” report, BTI Consulting Group arrived at its list of top law firms by conducting interviews with 322 high-ranking legal department decision makers, who were asked which firms excel at AFAs. The group selected 22 firms out of the 650 that serve Fortune 1000 companies and other large clients. Factors that contributed to firms’ rankings included confidence and authority, efficiency, flexibility and acceptance.
