Differences in Opinion on DEI Programs

Differences in Opinion on Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity Programs

Despite the subject’s rising popularity, there are many mixed reactions to the increasing number of  DEI programs being implemented by employers across the country. These programs are also known as diversity, equity, and inclusion, or IED initiatives.

Recently, Littler published its Inclusion, Equity and Diversity C-Suite Survey Report, which shows a commitment to DEI programs by many c-suite executives.

This report includes insights from more than 320 c-suite executives. Interestingly, it finds that there tends to be differences in opinion between Chief Legal Officers and Chief Diversity Officers in regards to these programs. Therefore, this report may leave you wondering if your organization is headed in the best direction with your DEI programs, policies, or goals.

Additional information on this topic and how your organization can begin examining its DEI program and practices is located in our PolicySmart™ solution. This solution has sections covering Commitment to Diversity in the state templates. Correspondingly, the policies found in this section can help guide you in assessing the handbook policies you have in place for each state in which your organization operates.

Additionally, resources on discrimination, retaliation, and harassment, are available in the state guides in PolicySmart or the Comprehensive Guidance in the Reference Center.
